Miranda Jamieson, a Canadian living in Florida, is making her multi-day racing debut at the Grand2Grand Ultra. She is an accomplished runner, having completed her 1st marathon at the age of 18. Since then she has found her niche as a long course triathlete, so should bring plenty of foot-speed to this race. The question is: will there be enough runnable terrain for her to open up and run fast?
For the first 3 stages Miranda would run conservatively, not knowing how her body would react to the back-to-back-to-back-to-etc.... long running days. On stage 4, she decided to run hard and the result was stunning: she finished 4th overall, less than 5 minutes behind the 2nd place man and over 45 minutes ahead of the next woman. She continued this form into the final stage, placing 5th overall and 1st woman again.
Her new race philosophy is "start running on day 1". The rest of the women's field had best beware.
