After two years of adventure racing inactivity, the X-Plore Team returned to where it all began. Scheduled to participate in a raid organized by Endurance Aventure, competitors were to reach 15 checkpoints over 70 kilometres of course. The October 2nd event pulled more than fifty teams of two participants. Leigh-Jason Quilliams, Jeff Rivest, Martin Ladouceur, and Nicolas Taillefer, all well-known on the Quebec scene were some of the names that put in for the title.

 "Run barefoot so others don't have to," is how the saying goes, for Lauren Jones of Barefoot Running that is. Jones and partner Scott have started the first barefoot race series called 'The Merrell Naked Foot 5K,' right on the uptake of the current trend towards a more minimalistic approach to trail running. So we decided to catch up with Jones to get a better handle on the whole scene.

If you had a chance to help save one of the last true wilderness regions on the planet would you? Given that most of us that enjoy the outdoors and travelling through remote wilderness feel a deep connection to these places it seems natural that we would want to protect them and the wildlife that they support. The Wenger Patagonian Expedition Race takes place in such an area and a national symbol of Chile, the huemul, is on the extinction list and has been since 1976.
