The Northstar Mountain Run wrapped up August 14, 2010 at Northstar in California which saw competitors ascend 10.2 kilometres of single and double track.
The classic mountain run started at the Village at Northstar and finished at the top of Mt. Pluto. Starting at 6,330 feet and ending at 8,610 feet, this mountain run offers scenic views of Lake Tahoe, and the Sierra and of course, a grind to the top of the once active volcano, Mt. Pluto. ![]() Ross McMahan was the overall winner of the Northstar Mountain Run on August 14th, finishing the climb in 54 minutes and 37 seconds. The first female Kristn Walstad followed closely behind finishing just under an hour, crossing the finish line in 59 minutes and 39 seconds. The youngest participant Savannah Ryder, age 16, finished the course in 1 hr and 28 minutes, taking first in the female age group 15-19. Julie Young, owner of O2 Fitness, former U.S. National Team member and pro cyclist came first in her age group and fifth overall gave a brief synopsis: “The temperature was perfect, the course provided an interesting mix of single track and double track trails which mid-way opened to sweeping views of Martis Valley. The course also afforded rhythmic run-able uphill terrain. After catching my breath - it was an amazing day to take in Mt. Pluto's 360 degree views of Castle Peak, Lake Tahoe and Martis Valley. What a setting for the lively friendly post-race awards and raffle." For more race results: www.bigblueadventure.com/results/10/Northstar2010Results.htm
